VIDA is a full-service, international agency,
licensed
in several states and working with the US Compact for the Placement of
Children and US Immigration and Naturalization Service to place
children throughout the United States and the world. VIDA has a
comprehensive adoption program which included pre-placement home study,
all interstate and foreign coordination, as well as post-placement
services once aw a child is within the family structure.
While adopting families must meet state, country,
and international
requirements, VIDA, as a voluntary agency, has some flexibility within
its programs which allows for many kinds of families to eligible for
adoption. Applications are considered on an individual basis. While
there is a minimum age of 21, there are no specific requirements of
religion, social, ethnic or cultural origin. In addition, single
people, as well as those with known medical problems, are also
considered. In all cases, a criminal check is required. And, in many
states, a child registry check must be completed.
Because VIDA feels an extra special relationship
with the children we
place, our adoptive parents are most receptive to our philosophy. The
parent who successfully adopts through VIDA is special, willing to
share in our total program.
